Crypto profit calculator
Type four numbers, get the truth about your trade. Entry, exit, size and fees — the calculator returns net profit, ROI and break-even instantly, with no sign-up and nothing leaving your browser.
The three numbers traders get wrong
Fees compound silently. A round trip at 0.25% per side costs 0.5% of position size. Trade weekly and that is over 25% of your capital a year handed to the exchange at ten round trips per month — before a single losing trade. The fee field above defaults to a typical taker rate; set it to your real tier.
ROI is not the same as price change. If a coin rises 20% but fees took 0.5% and you only deployed half your stack, your account grew roughly 9.75%. The calculator reports return on what you actually put at risk, which is the number that determines whether your strategy compounds.
Break-even is higher than your entry. Fees shift it: buy at $100 with 0.25% per side and you need roughly $100.50 to exit flat. Below that, a “small win” is a disguised loss. The break-even readout does this arithmetic for every trade you model.
From one trade to a whole portfolio
A calculator answers one trade at a time. To see aggregate cost basis, unrealized P&L and allocation drift across everything you hold, load your positions into the free portfolio tracker — it runs entirely in your browser, no account needed. And before the next entry, sanity-check the market mood on the Fear & Greed Index.
Frequently asked questions
How is crypto profit calculated?
Profit = (sell price − buy price) × quantity − fees. The calculator above also derives your return on investment: net profit divided by the total cost of entry (including the buy-side fee), so the percentage reflects what your capital actually earned.
Should I include exchange fees?
Always. A 0.25% taker fee applied on both entry and exit clips half a percent off every round trip — enough to turn a scalp negative. Enter the percentage your exchange charges; if you trade on CEX.IO with code FREECRYPTO, your first 100 USDC of fees are credited back after your initial deposit.
Does the calculator handle partial sells?
Yes — set the quantity to the portion you sold rather than your whole stack. For multiple exits at different prices, run each tranche separately and add the results, or track the whole position in our portfolio tracker.
How are crypto profits taxed?
Most jurisdictions treat disposals of crypto as taxable events — selling to fiat, swapping coin-to-coin, and often spending. Rates and allowances differ widely by country and holding period, so keep a record of every trade (this tool shows the numbers you need) and confirm specifics with a local tax professional.
